Aluminum and environment

Any metallurgical production is associated with environmental risks. For all that the aluminum production is one of the safest. Emissions in aluminum industry are mainly related to energy generation from organic fuel, and not to aluminum production. If the company uses hydro power, the emissions into the atmosphere are not available.

An important advantage of aluminum in environment protecting is the fact that this metal is excellently recyclable without loss of its unique properties. Thus there is a huge energy saving: in order to recycle aluminum requires only 5% of the energy needed to produce primary aluminum, and the greenhouse gas emissions thrown while aluminum recycling make up 5% of the total emissions from primary aluminum production.


Aluminum is called a light metal. The more aluminum is used for the production of transport vehicles, the more energy efficient they are and therefore, the less fuel they require. All this reduces the environment risks.


Revolution in architecture has led to the search for new building materials. Aluminum, despite its softness, becomes very popular in eco-architecture and construction. Most aluminum alloys are high resistant to corrosion. The service life of the articles made of these alloys is at least 80 years. Even most extreme conditions do not affect the quality of the material and their structural properties are preserved at temperature drops. Aluminum does not emit harmful and dangerous substances, is not magnetized, and has a high thermal conductivity. All these qualities make aluminum eco-friendly to the environment.
